I was on a panel years ago with Bankers who were complaining about the amount of energy Bitcoin uses. I turned to them and said, “Banks use more electricity than all of Bitcoin mining COMBINED!”. They looked at me stunned of course. My point was easy. If you look at all the lights left on in the buildings, the computers running, the big lights in the parking lots on 24 hours a day, the signs on their buildings, etc., their footprint is higher. But, I also pointed out that BTC mining can go green and efficient. I stated about Oman doing no-flare mining, where you can an existing gas well and get free electricity. Again, STUNNED looks.
